That should happen in shade and then it should be shifted up and placed gradually into more and more sun over the course of a month or two until it is hardened and can go in the ground. Do you have a FULL shade spot under some trees or overhang? I used a 4 foot bamboo stick I bought at Home Depot and tied it to the broken leaf. Mine's established and I still water it almost daily.

Also how f2 compares to f1 on their cold hardiness aswell as growth rate.
I have little doubt that had it been spring, or this time of year, germination likely would have succeeded.

Number 1 on my personal list of favorite feather-leaved / crown shafted palms so i completely understand the allure / desire to grow one ( ...or a few, lol )..
This would happen far more quickly for you than it does for those of us in the humid tropics where the plant tissues survive on atmospheric moisture for ages before the final collapse.

That thing is so root bound that you need to do slow drip like they do or just plant it. Most likely a resold Rancho Soledad plant or a Florida import from Sparkman. But if there is actually "zero" movement, your palm is probably already dead. Even in the slowest sickliest palm, you should notice some movement of the spear - even 1/8 of an inch in a week assures that your palm is still alive. I believe most of the time the seeds never germinate but very occasionally they do. I have some flowering/fruiting foxtails near an adonidia doing the same. I have a couple of completely green ones in my yard and there isn’t a bit of variegation Hot and dry in summer, humid and sticky monsoon season, perfect weather Christmas time One is variegated and the other is not?? Are they famous because they are the first to produce viable seed? Are they the first two foxy ladies cultivated??? Being in tropical Cairns, they were probably seedlings 3 yrs ago. I do need to get better on checking my palm talk tho! Purchased several years ago as a seedling from a breeder in Florida. Where did that palm originate? I hope/expect some new batches to hit the market sometime soon. Foxyladies hold the variegation when mature. Here are a few slightly variegated ones. They seem to have an overall hard time surviving. The only exception, would be the ones that foxy gold are extremely variegated. Erik, the Foxtails were planted many months before the F1 Foxyladies. After many years and trees that are ungodly tall, my foxy lady, 1 of 2 dropped 2 very ripe very real looking seeds. I’m hoping that the foxy lady will turn all green it only has 1 frond that is variegated. I've been growing this foxy lady a few years now and I think it's time to rehome her. F1 hybrids tend to be more consistent, and I guess this is why what we know as a foxy lady (F1) has its signature look. Is there any way to tell if seeds are hybridized by looking at them as they develop? So my question would be if this palm is mostly green will it do well in full sun

The collection has a few standard green Foxies, and a Variegated specimen whose crown receives full sun. FULL DISCLOSURE...these are not photos of my palms, nor did I take these photos. What’s the difference between the variegated and the green ? There’s been a couple times where large all green forms have been available, but it hasn’t been too often.

My big green one enjoys full sun however and is the fastest growing palm in my landscape and I have hundreds of palms in the ground.
The seed looks pretty elongated, so I would think it would have a lot of Vetchia characteristics.

If this one produces seed, you should be able to tell if they have a chance.. While the largest would flower & produce seed often, most seed i'd collect were empty or basically liquid when opened. The only mature ( and flowering /seeding ) specimens i'm currently familiar with are those in Kopsick's collection. Floribunda had some f2 foxy ladies a while ago. You did not get a palm that was basically bare root and a palm you specifically said you did not want!!! You got an amazing holy grail palm at a discount price.

They will feel heavier than the empty seeds as well. When looking at seeds on the Kopsick specimen(s), they will have a look that falls somewhere between those off Veitchia, and those off Foxtails. As far as I know it is possible for these two to hybridize. Good stuff when ever someone finds a full green or the lucky charm let me know would like a small one it’s almost like finding Waldo There is full green and mostly green. Secondly, drought tolerance is typically referring to in ground established plants. I've always heard that Foxy Lady's like sun and are somewhat drought tolerant... By the looks of it, drying and wilting, what're the odds of a rebound if I get it in the ground with profuse water? I highly recommend that you just plant this. Regular 'ol green specimens always look flawless. In all the years i have observed it, fronds on the variegated spec. I'd suggest spending sometime at Kopsick Palmatium in St. Pete. So why does it seem the green is the better choice ? I am good with the outcome either way, but if you really want to rid yourself of that 'ugly' plant,I am ready to adopt. I would LOVE to own that 'ugly' palm. These looked to be well grown. I have 3-7g (one slight variegation) I have 3-3g (one slight variegation) In fact, about all the foxyladies that exhibited extreme variegation did not survive. Apparently when the greenies are much older they can also put out the odd variegated leaf. I ask because I have 3 one leaf seedlings and they all have variegation so I'm just curious if they'll all keep this as adults I have 6 mature foxy ladies and all but 2 are variegated. That is how you can tell the difference between foxtail and Foxy Lady hybrid. Note the smooth texture of the seed fiber compared to a course fiber foxtail. I do not grow foxtails, so there could not be a mix up there. I have plenty of foxtails and Veitchia arecina in the yard so maybe it did a cross back with one of them to become fertile? Yeah I had one sprout a while back but had some irrigation issues to my potted plants in my absence and it ended up drying out and dying.
