In July 2021, Google Drive for Desktop, a new app for Windows and Mac, was released replacing "Backup and Sync" and "Drive File Stream". Its main function is for the user to be able to set certain folders to constantly sync onto their Google Account's Drive. It was made mainly to replace the Google Drive desktop app, which was discontinued.
